Fascinations
Tropical rainforests are near the equator where it is almost always warm and wet and these are the key ingredients for making lots of lush plants and trees. Half of the world’s plants and animals live in tropical rainforests - very busy ecosystems with all kinds of plants, animals, fungi, and microscopic organisms. Many of them live here and nowhere else.
Musicking
The opening song sets the tone for the cantata and the principal message is heard through the voices of the two narrators.  Everyone should be a narrator initially, to grasp an understanding of the content and sing meaningfully and accurately with a sense or urgency and fun.   Listen to how the phrases flow from one part to the other in a stream of dialogue and work on smooth lines.  The harmony in the descant parts can be heard in the accompaniment throughout and may be added when the song is learned and singers are confident. These parts are optional and are particularly useful if you have a large group.
Learning moves
Here is your body percussion rock beat recipe!  Begin by counting 1-2-3-4 aloud, building up to the song tempo of 152 bpm.  When everyone is confident, assured and accurate, internalise the counting!  Next, add tapping feet until strong and secure, and when ready add thigh slapping.   Aim for a strong and steady beat before thinking about singing along.
Picture
This is for advanced body percussionists and introduces quaver slaps on the right thigh and gentle chest-cavity thumps with the open palm of the hand.  Note: left handers should swap hands/feet as necessary.  When ready, experiment by using different parts of the body to see what works well.
