Makaton Signing
As part of our desire to lead you into learning we have provided links to a set of video clips to show you how to use your hands to sign each of the creatures featured in our songs. These are Makaton signs.
Makaton is a unique language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate. It supports the development of essential communication skills such as attention and listening, comprehension, memory, recall and organisation of language and expression.
With Makaton, signs are used, with speech, in spoken word order. This helps provide extra clues about what someone is saying or in this case singing.
Being able to communicate is one of the most important skills we need in life so why not have a go at expressing yourself in a different way and communicating through signing?
